Eight FRHS Students in PMEA Honors Ensembles

Franklin Regional will send eight students to the Pennsylvania Music Educators Association’s District 1 Honors Band and Honors String Orchestra.

Qualifying by audition for the Honors Band were Lauren DeLuca (Flute I), Clare McCarthy (Flute II), Alex Redling (Clarinet I), Ashley Li (Clarinet II), and Nicole Lamagna (Clarinet II).  The Honors Band will perform in concert at Bethel Park High School on November 22 under the direction of Brian Balmages. 

Selected by audition to the Honors String Orchestra were Tony Qin (Violin I), A.J. Buchin (Violin II), and Colin McCamy (Cello).  The Honors String Orchestra will perform at Chartiers Valley Intermediate School on November 8 under the direction of Melinda Perttu. 

PMEA District 1 is comprised of school districts in a five-county area of southwestern Pennsylvania and includes more than 100 high schools.  Students are selected to the Honors Band and Orchestra based on their scores in a live audition, performing a prepared solo piece selected by PMEA.
