I grew up in the Pittsburgh area and except for a short time when I lived and taught in Maryland, I have lived in the eastern suburbs of Pittsburgh most of my life.

I have taught ESL for the Allegheny Intermediate Unit, and worked in advertising and writing as a newspaper reporter, editor and freelance writer. In 1991 I started teaching ESL for Franklin Regional School District. Since then, there have been over 198 English Language Learners from over 51 different countries in the program in grades K-12. In the Spring of 2008 I was elected President of Three Rivers TESOL, the western PA affiliate to the International TESOL organization. I remained on the Three Rivers TESOL board for 7 years. In 2011 I was elected to the International TESOL Affiliate Leadership Council. I served on that board for 5 years. I have also designed and taught the ESL Certification courses for Intermediate Unit 1 and 7. I was recently nominated and selected to be a member of the International TESOL Publishing Press Committee as an advisor for books and resources for the K-12 ESL/EFL audience. I am also a reader for the Argentina TESOL Journal and a judge for the Virginia French Allen TESOL Scholarship.
